2018 Summary
The Postscript story didn't start with a big bang, but with two co-workers-turned-friends, Adam Turner and Alex Beller, who met at Stackcommerce. But on nights and weekends, Adam and Colin were working on startup ideas. They eventually started working on Postscript in early 2018. Beller joined the brothers that summer having heard about the idea from Adam and being excited from the start about the exciting opportunity in the market. Adam and Colin had previously founded Wiblits, a communal gaming company where Colin was CEO of Wiblits. Since Colin already had his turn as CEO, Adam got to be CEO of Postscript :)
As a team, they made the defining decision to be remote-first right away, a strategic choice that predated the pandemic and allowed them to build a national team. Their budget was lean—Adam candidly described "surviving on Costco corn dogs" while living in "questionable apartments." This no-frills, bootstrapped approach enforced a "strict three-month MVP rule" to prove viability. They launched the earliest version of the platform, the four-shortcode "Operator" product, and capped off the year with the game-changing acceptance into Y Combinator's Winter 2019 batch.
