The Next Big Thing in SMS: Announcing Text-to-Buy from Postscript and Shop Pay

At Postscript, we believe SMS is the most important marketing channel of the decade—and it might just be the most innovative sales channel of the decade, too! That’s why we’re so excited to announce that we’re launching text-to-buy functionality with Shop Pay.

Shopify merchants can now leverage Postscript as a sales channel—similar to Google, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This opens the door to use the Postscript platform—and the SMS channel—as a direct revenue driver. 

As one of only a handful of vendors participating in this initial launch, we’re ecstatic to offer our text-to-buy solution.

New to Shop Pay? Here’s the deal.

Shop Pay is an accelerated checkout that allows customers to complete an order in seconds by entering a 6-digit verification code sent directly to their phone. With Shop Pay, merchants get a checkout experience that is 4X faster than standard checkout and has an 11% higher conversion rate than other accelerated payment options. More importantly, this has helped millions of shoppers purchase quickly and easily from their favorite brands. 

Since Shop Pay was first launched, its reach has expanded to include Facebook and Google, taking Shop Pay beyond the Shopify ecosystem.

This new feature builds on that innovation by bringing Shop Pay to SMS.

As a bonus, now that Postscript is a sales channel app, merchants can conveniently track revenue generated by Postscript text-to-buy conversions directly within their Shopify admin.

Text-to-Buy: We’re just getting started.

After a soft launch in 2021, we’ve learned a lot from our customers. Those insights, coupled with our close relationship with Shopify, have left us even more convinced of the massive potential of text-to-buy. To help our community of Shopify merchants capitalize on that opportunity, we’ll continue to invest in solutions and improvements to Postscript and how best to use text-to-buy to drive revenue.

To start, we’ve kicked off a preliminary beta program with a select group of Postscript customers who will help us identify high-value use cases and develop proven playbooks. Then we will expand access to a larger group of customers to fine-tune our text-to-buy features and functionality before opening access to all eligible customers.

Our crew can't wait to bring this new tool to the nearly 9,000 merchants who already work with us. But we want to make sure we arm you with the tools you need to get the most out of this exciting solution. So, we’re building it thoughtfully and intentionally—guided by plenty of firsthand feedback from our users.
