Texts to Send in July

It's summer break (finally), and everybody is ready to have a jolly ol' July. This month is prime time to get the good texts rolling, with quirky but beloved holidays like Ice Cream Day, World Emoji Day, and the oft-overlooked Embrace Your Geekness Day.

Your subscribers are sitting by a beach, pool, or BBQ pit right now, so this is a great opportunity to send out conversational campaigns. Keep subscribers entertained and engaged while those hot dogs acquire their grill marks.

July 1: International Joke Day

Dying is easy, comedy is hard. And taking a tongue-in-cheek tone to your marketing comms can definitely feel like a risky swing if it's not your typical brand voice. But there's no better excuse to goof up your texts than International Joke Day (we're all a bit tired of April Fool's Day campaigns).

So place a pithy pun or crack a corny joke on the first of the month—we'll wager you convert more chuckles than eye-rolls. Not sure where to start? Here are some witty sends we spotted recently:

Joke - Really Good Boxed Wine

Joke - Mammoth Headwear

July 1: Canada Day

"Glorious and free" doubles as a line in Canada's anthem and our motto for SMS copywriting. Our Canadian Postscript team members agree that they'd rather see creative campaigns on Canada Day than formulaic ones.

Have some fun with your promotions and celebrate the Great White North with memorable texts like these:

Canada - Seido Knives

July 4: Independence Day

More than 150 countries celebrate their own Independence Day (with 65 of those celebrating independence from Britain). But boy, oh boy, do we love to do it up here in the States—and our marketing is no exception.

It's safe to say this is one of the most feel-good holiday weekends of the year, with ideal weather, appetizing aromas coming wafting off the grill, and fireworks lighting up the sky. So be sure to plan your campaigns ahead of time to capitalize on the mood fully. Consider some less-traditional send times to stand out in busy inboxes, or start your July 4th promotions a week early to get ahead of the noise. Here are some fantastic texts to get you going:

July 13: Embrace your Geekness Day

Nearly 20% of the US population consider themselves geeks (probably more if this is a self-reporting poll). Embrace them on July 13th by tapping into Geekdom. There may be no brand more qualified to do so than Wyvern's Hoard:

Geek - Wyvern-s Hoard
Geek - Feels So Good

July 17: World Emoji Day

Emojis have been a cornerstone of the SMS channel for as long as we've been slingin' texts. Some brands prefer a light pinch of emojis in their messaging, and some prefer a generous dollop. This is a good chance to go over the top, whichever way you lean.

Try communicating to subscribers with only a string of emojis and see how clear you can make your message. Or, rank your favorite emojis and ask subscribers to vote for theirs. World Emoji Day is an event you just can't skip for SMS.

July 21: International Ice Cream / Junk Food Day

"Junk Food" could use a re-brand. Perhaps something like "Happy Snacks". Plenty of brands are putting healthy spins on junky classics, but any brand connect with their subscribers over a love of ice cream:

Ice Cream - Coffee Beanery

Ice Cream - JOI

Ice Cream - GIGANTIC
