Purpose & Entrepreneurship
What inspired you to start Just Move Supplements?
"I started Just Move because there was a desperate need for plant-based protein options that weren’t just nutritious but actually delicious. Too many people were settling for gritty, unappetizing protein shakes, and I wanted to change that. My identity played a huge role in shaping this journey—it gave me insight into my community’s needs. I knew firsthand the lack of accessible, tasty protein alternatives, and I wanted to create something that truly resonated with our culture and taste preferences.
One of the biggest early challenges was keeping up with demand. It was exciting but also overwhelming to see so many people eager for our products. We had to scale quickly, but funding was tight. To tackle this, we turned to our community. We launched fundraising efforts, and the response was incredible. Our customers helped us raise enough capital to invest in more machines and hire additional staff. That experience was humbling—it showed me the power of community and the importance of transparency in business."

Representation, Legacy, & Impact
What does it mean to you to be a Black-owned business in today’s ecommerce landscape?
"It’s empowering. Representation matters, and I take pride in showing that we can create high-quality products that resonate with our audience. But it’s not always easy—there are still systemic barriers and moments of adversity. However, that only fuels my drive. I want to show the next generation that success is possible. We’re not just building a business; we’re paving the way for future Black entrepreneurs.
We’re making health and wellness more accessible and enjoyable for our community. Our flavors are inspired by nostalgic desserts that many of us grew up loving, making nutrition feel familiar and inviting. Beyond that, we’re helping shift the narrative around generational wealth. Black entrepreneurship isn’t just about building businesses—it’s about creating opportunities, fostering community, and leaving a lasting impact."
Community & Culture
How has your community and culture influenced your business?
"My community is everything. Their trust, loyalty, and enthusiasm keep me motivated. They remind me why I started this in the first place. Their support isn’t just financial—it’s emotional and cultural. They believe in us, and that drives me to continue innovating and pushing forward.
There was a time when we were at risk of shutting down due to a lack of funds. In a moment of vulnerability, I shared our struggles in a video, opening up about the state of our business. The response was unbelievable—our community came together and raised over $300,000 in just five days. That moment solidified for me that Just Move is more than just a brand; it’s a movement. People believed in us, and that support kept us going. It was a powerful reminder that when we lift each other up, we all win.
Culture is at the heart of everything we do. Our flavors are inspired by Black culture, our branding reflects our community’s aesthetic, and our messaging speaks directly to our people. I want our customers to feel seen and represented. When they pick up a Just Move product, I want it to feel like home."
Are there any collaborations with other Black-owned businesses that you’re especially proud of?
"Yes! We’ve worked with Black-owned pop-ups like Black On The Block, which was an incredible experience. Meeting our customers face-to-face and seeing their excitement in person was so special. Also, being featured in Essence magazine was a huge moment for us—it gave us a platform to share our story and mission on a larger scale."
Navigating Ecommerce as a Black-Owned Brand
What unique challenges and opportunities do Black-owned businesses face in ecommerce?
"There’s a growing movement of consumers eager to support Black-owned brands, which is amazing. But access to funding and resources is still a major challenge. We also have to work harder to combat stereotypes and establish credibility in spaces where we’ve historically been underrepresented. Despite this, our resilience and creativity allow us to thrive and build powerful, community-driven brands.
Shopify has provided a seamless platform for us to build our store and create an amazing shopping experience. Postscript, in particular, has been a game-changer. SMS marketing has allowed us to connect directly with our customers, build loyalty, and generate millions in sales. It’s been instrumental in strengthening our relationship with our community."
What advice would you give to aspiring Black entrepreneurs?
"Buckle up! Ecommerce is a journey, and it’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Get creative, stay flexible, and most importantly, be authentic. Your customers can tell when you’re being real, and that connection is what will set you apart."

Honoring Black History Month and Looking Ahead
What does BHM mean to Just Move?
"We celebrate Black history every day by staying true to our mission and uplifting our community. For us, this month is a time to amplify our voices, highlight our achievements, and inspire others to pursue their dreams."
I want other Black entrepreneurs to know that success is possible, even in industries where we’ve been historically overlooked. We are resilient, innovative, and powerful. Keep pushing forward—you belong here."
What’s next for Just Move?
"We’re expanding! We have exciting new products in the pipeline, and we’re even looking at moving into the food space. Long-term, I want to develop an app to support other entrepreneurs, providing guidance and resources to help them navigate their journeys. Our goal is to keep innovating, keep inspiring, and keep making an impact."
Just Move reminds us that success isn’t just about selling products—it’s about creating a legacy, breaking barriers, and making sure the next generation knows they belong in every room they step into.
